This is a two years comprehensive course offered to medical graduates. The course is conducted by the Institute of Community Ophthalmology under Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and is recognized by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. The students are selected through admission procedure conducted by BSMMU. The course starts in the month of July every year.
The core curriculum of the Diploma in Community Ophthalmology is intended to provide students with academic grounding in :
• Basic science in ophthalmology
• Concepts of concern for the eye health of the population
• The epidemiology and demography of blindness.
• Preventive ophthalmology
• Eye care management
• Clinical ophthalmology
